Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy at Animal Zone forms a very important part of their holistic treatment protocol. This involves treatments that may take the form of exercise programs, stretching routines, and MLS laser treatment to treat a host of conditions including tendon, ligament and muscular injuries, back pain, nerve injuries, respiratory conditions and orthopaedic post-operative rehabilitation.
Extensive Diabetic Care
Diabetes is just as common in pets as it is in humans. Studies have shown that overweight and obese animals, as well as those with inflammatory conditions of the pancreas, generally have the highest predisposition for the development of the disease. A diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus is generally made by Dr Saimen when a patient does not produce enough insulin. In the absence of insulin, sugar increases in the blood and spills into the urine causing a host of symptoms such as thirst, hunger, weight loss and infections. Dr Saimen has a wealth of experience in the field including a journal article published on this specialisation
The treatment Plan at AZV involves:
Development of an insulin-glucose response curve to determine
- The type of insulin
- Frequency and dose
- Most suitable injection time
- Constant monitoring of changes
- Lifestyle coaching on types of food intake
Please read a published journal article by Dr Salochanee Saimen regarding Diabetes Mellitus
